Applause For…The Cape!

The cape is trending right now! It’s a ‘MUST-HAVE’ wardrobe staple to help you through the chilly days ahead.

Looking uber cool and cosy in her wool, leather trim cape, ‘Bruug’ designer, Tash Butler above, inspired me to get my capestyle happening.

THE MILITARY CAPE: An alternative to an anorak. This Ben Sherman military-style hooded cape above, is toasty warm and a casual throw on. When buttoned up, it’s perfect for chilly sporting events. Styled with Current Elliott gold/black skinnies, from Zara Bryson and ankle boots.

THE PICNIC CAPE! This ‘rug’ style tartan, vintage cape was made in Japan. Its fun bright checks and red fringe, brightens up a grey, gloomy day. Perfect for winter walks. Styled with Camilla and Marc jeans, DL jade cardigan and Sass & Bide triangle tee. Dare to wear…

THE ‘BOW’ CAPE: This vintage silk/linen cape, is velvet trimmed. It is ‘sweet’ and old-fashioned but can be transformed into a ‘now look’ with boyfriend jeans and boots! The arm slits make it practical to wear. It’s a versatile piece that can be paired with jeans and gloves above, or with…

…boots, bloomers and tights.

THE DRESSED-UP CAPE: Sass & Bide have re-invented the cape. Swoon! They’ve dressed it up by adding shoulder pads, braiding and an attached/inner waistcoat. It’s the perfect solution for an alternative to a traditional style, dressy jacket and works well with pants, jeans, shorts, dresses or.. .anything!
