With Flowers In Their Hair

Following her sell-out ‘A Is For Arizona’ exhibition, emerging Perth artist, Pippa McManus returned to 140 William, with her next collection of paintings entitled, ‘With Flowers In Their Hair’. She celebrated the opening with a fabulous VIP Champagne Launch.

After a whirlwind trip to London and inspired by London Fashion Week, Pip’s works are created around a theme of beautiful headpieces. She’s painted her favourite national and international models, adorned with flowers, jewels, veils, crowns and hats. No surprises that most of the collection of 26 pieces, sold out within an hour of opening!

Pip, above, is sweet, lovely and extremely humble about her talent. She’s wearing a colour trio of sage, pink and mirrored gold. Her ‘Oscar The Third’, silk wrap dress, is from The Annexe in Mt Hawthorn. The metallic platforms are from Zomp and the delicate blossom headpiece, is a bespoke piece by British artist, costume designer and milliner, Piers Atkinson.

On my way to 140 William. I’m wearing a sass & bide sparkle singlet and harem pants. The fluoro pink ‘under’ singlet, adds a hint of colour POP!! The glitter cardi adds interest! The shades are Leona Edmiston and boots shakuhachi.

The pink silk singlet and neck chain are both bargain buys from The Miss Shop. The glitter cardi is an original 60’s number from Vinnies, as is the Turkish coin bracelet. Tip: Try to add some rose gold, silver or gold sparkle to your outfit. Even just a hint, such as a cardi slung around the hips, a pouch or a pair of metallic wedges!

‘Parisian Chic’ (PC for short) joined me at the launch. She wore a Poppy Lissiman fun, floral tunic. Her phone pouch and Mimco clutch added ‘edge’ to the outfit.
