‘Girls Night In’ for Breast Cancer

It takes a very special, warm and generous person to open their home to friends and strangers alike, all in the name of charity. Julie Ryan is that special person! Julie started holding annual, pink fundraiser morning tea parties for Breast Cancer seven years ago. They were always fab fun and not to be missed. So much so, the event has now blossomed into a much bigger, ‘Girls Night In’. The tickets sell out fast and over the years, Julie has donated thousands of dollars to Breast Cancer Research.

Julie, above (peek a boo to her mum Dot, in the background), spent many hours planning, lovingly wrapping donations, baking and decorating to ensure the night was a huge success. Love her multi-pink kaftan. Cheers to you, Julie…you have a heart of gold!

I shared my own personal Breast Cancer, roller-coaster journey, with the ladies and emphasised the importance of early detection. Afterwards, I also shared a few fun AndAndrea fashion stories and tips.

My pink and black outfit above, reminded me of liquorice allsorts! The Shakuhachi silk chiffon slip, was a little bare, so the Pilgrim shrug added extra coverage. Happy beads and pom-pom pouch from Bali. Jeans by camilla & marc and wedges by Innovare.

The girlies mingled, laughed, shared stories and shrieked with delight when their lucky raffle number was drawn. It was Bev’s lucky night, as she won a $150 dress voucher, kindly donated by Leona Edmiston.

It was all over in a flash! The girlies departed laden with raffle prizes, pink lolly cupcakes and wonderful memories of yet another fabulously successful night at Julie’s.
