Fashions on the Field

Oysters a plenty and bubbles flowing….what a delightful way to spend the day at Ascot Racecourse. Myer sponsors ‘Fashions on the Field’. It’s a day when fashionistas really show their style. Margaret and Jonica (above) were guests at our Myer marquee. They both looked stunning in their Costarella outfits.

It’s very important to dress appropriately for the races….always ladylike, with not too much flesh showing!!! Top tips: plan your outfit well ahead. Attention to detail is the key. The Autumn racing dress code is quite different to Spring racing. Colours are more subdued. Stockings, gloves, felt hats and leather or feather touches are all the go. I purchased my lace gloves at Myer. They were white (see above), so I tea-stained them to match my outfit. Nails OPI 152 and Sportscraft Signature range blush pouch.

Many women shy away from fascinators or head couture for the races…but they are essential to make the outfit shine. They really make a statement! I used two ‘cabbage flowers’ that were both on wire headbands. I removed the wire and sewed combs underneath, easy! (see above). Reny Kestell (above left) and Debbie Kelly (above right/ DK Millinery) are both fabulously talented WA milliners. They make bespoke head pieces for women, as well as buttonholes, for men.

My Leona Edmiston shoes above, are a rich claret tone. I wanted my polished nails to shine through, but also wanted to wear stockings. VooDoo do a range of toeless stockings, but the colours are very limited. Problem solved, I snipped the tips of my normal stockings. Also, snapped Reny’s fab courts. Lime neon block heels….wow factor!

Some last minute makeup touchups and I am all set to go. I’m wearing claret and nude tones and based my outfit around my heels. The floral hipster skirt is by Ellery and the nude silk shirt, by Yeojin Bae. My complete outfit was purchased at Myer.

In the marquee with Myer guests (L to R) Richard and Kylie, from WA fashion label Morrison, journalist Claire Davies, Margaret and Jonica.

Gorgeous Myer staff Michelle, Sophia, and Sanette (above) and Racewear queen, Elicia Anders and her lovely niece. These ladies really set the standard!!

It’s not all about the ladies! Red, white and blue… I snapped this well-dressed racegoer in his navy sports jacket and striking Polo Ralph Lauren trousers.

The simply beautiful Twigley sisters.

Judging is always a challenge, as there are many worthy winners.

It’s a wrap. Autumn ‘Fashions on the Field’ is over. Cant wait for Spring racing now!!
