Fancy Pants

During my styling sessions at Myer, clients often ask me about appropriate pant lengths. “It’s so confusing” they say. The clay coloured ‘ankle freezers’ (above) are an example of anything goes! These Manning Cartell, stretch skinnies are an unusual ‘no-mans land’ length. The trick is, there are no rules. Wear with confidence and any length will work! The white singlet knit is tucked to one side (as a tummy disguise) and left loose across the other. The sass & bide, blue/duo shirt was a steal on a crazy bargain rack at Myer (there may even be a few left!). Blue and clay tones love each other!

Tip: Collect and KEEP beads. Never, ever throw them out. One day, they might just come in handy to add zing to your outfit. Pile them on …. more really IS more! Hunt down an antique or brushed gold chain, as it goes with almost everything. Mine above, is a Bali find. All other beads shown are old faves.

Perth born designer, Kim Ellery would be so proud to hear the ‘love’ comments about her new range. Zandra (above) came in during the morning, looking for a non-traditional, ‘Mother of the Groom’ outfit. She is extremely petite and has a fun, individual dress style. We all admired her zest for life! She absolutely adored the Ellery separates above and asked if she could wear them with her Vivienne Westwood clear crystal, skull earrings. We all know the answer…..there are no rules!!!

Later in the afternoon, gorgeous Sam came in for a ‘work wardrobe’ styling session. She works 2 days a week and is mum to little Xavier. One of her work days is a Friday. Her office has casual dress on Fridays, so she wanted easy-wear clothes that had a dual work/play purpose. She also needs clothes that will ‘grow’, as bub No. 2 is on the way! This Leona Edmiston musk/dusk toned dress is sweet, feminine and will stretch gracefully. It’s no fuss, no zips. easy pull-on design means she can be dressed in a jiffy. Delightful dressed up with loads of pearls, heels and ‘up-do’ hair or dressed down with flats.

Sam needed comfy, elastic waisted, stretch pants. These Jane Lamerton pull-on (no zip) skinnies were her favourite. They’re not clingy like leggings, so if worn correctly, (i.e. butt covered) they’re appropriate for casual Fridays. The black silhouette will be a great disguise as her bub-bump grows. The mocha, Wish, drapey jacket is discreet and long at the back! Nude shoes go with everything. Mmmn, now add some orange beads or a brushed gold chain for colour pop.

Love the A-slits on the Jane Lamerton pants….so Jackie O.
