Contradiction

Destination??? Sewellery, 140 William St. Perth. It’s home away from home for talented stylist and artist in residence, Teagan Sewell. Cutting through the old GPO, on the way from Myer, there’s just enough time to stop and take a few, quick, outfit shots.

I’m inspired by Ines de la Fressange (author of my style bible, ‘Parisian Chic’), who loves to cinch in a man-style jacket. This silk, boyfriend jacket, by Sydney designer, Nina Maya, is usually worn loose and open. Above, I’ve nipped it in, with an Alannah Hill cummerbund and layered an assymetrical Bardot singlet underneath. Tip: always try to get more wear from clothes by changing the look. Rummage through your man’s wardrobe and find ‘his’ cummerbund (it will be with his tux!). Use it as a waist belt next time you wear a jacket. The smudged, water-print pants, add a touch of individuality and the RMK work boots, totally contradict the whole look!

Slime green skull mural on the window? Mmmn… I must be at my destination, Sewellery.

Mannequins laden with skulls, crosses and skeletal hands…fascinating!

Australiana memorabilia, meets grungy skull chic. Now that’s an interesting contradiction!

Like designer, the late Alexander McQueen, Teagan has a fascination for skulls. This interest turned into a passion and she launched her jewellery line in 2011.

Teagan’s collection is an eclectic mix of skulls, crosses, chains and crystals. Her bespoke pieces, add that bold ‘edge’ to any outfit. Whether it be a simple, single skull choker or an extended chain, dripping with skulls and crosses, there’s a special piece to suit every outfit. Sewellery has been featured on the runway at the Perth Fashion Festival and recently has been worn by The Veronicas. Teagan can be found at Sewellery, on Thursdays and Fridays 11-4pm.

And here she is…gorgeous Teagan Sewell with Westfield stylist, Mikey Walton.  Now that’s a creative duo! When Teagan is not designing and making jewellery, she is styling for the West Australian newspaper or for runway shows such as the Myer Perth Fashion Festival lunch in September.
