Casual Cafe Style

Coming…and …going from Donovan’s cafe in Floreat. It’s a favourite ‘time-out’ spot for the lovelies and I to have an early brekky chat before the crazy day begins.

When styling at Myer, I get loads of requests from clients needing clothes suitable for their cafe lifestyle. Often, their work wardrobe is sorted and their dressy wardrobe is sorted. But that effortless, ‘I’ve just thrown this on, casual cafe style look’ gives them one big headache. Having good staples makes the task easy. Firstly, fab fitting jeans, (blue or coloured) are essential. Next, some layering pieces that are versatile such as a plain, cropped jacket and some loose long tops. Above, I’m wearing Manning Cartell terracotta, capri jeans and my Karen Walker zippered jacket. Both items are plain and simple. Tip: To add ‘high fashion’ to the mix, do it in small doses. As florals are currently trending, I’ve added a sass and bide floral singlet to finish off this outfit. To change the look next time….I’d just change the singlet and beads. Easy.

A good navy jacket is a saviour!! It will last season after season. Invest in a mid-weight, trans-seasonal one, so it can be worn most of the year round. Make sure can it be dressed up for drinkys and dressed down for a casual look.

Beads add individuality and complete the casual ‘cafe’ look. Play around with different lengths, colours and textures.

After all that cafe clothes talk, it’s time to try some Donovan’s delights!
